Retreats and Conferences

Camp Piankatank, perched on 90 acres above the beautiful Piankatank River, has a lot to offer visitors . Located in Hartfield, Virginia (just a few miles from the Chesapeake Bay), we are owned and operated by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. Guests need not be Baptist or church organizations in order to reserve the camp. Here a guest can enjoy scenic beauty and stillness not found in every-day life. The grounds offer an outdoor worship area, large recreational fields, a ropes course with a new climbing tower and exciting zip line, many acres of forest to explore, a sandy beachfront, hiking trails, boating opportunities, wildlife viewing, fishing and more.

We have six cabin style buildings, four that sleep 18-20 people each and two that sleep 10. The four large cabins, built identically, offer beds and bathrooms meeting standards for twenty people, heat/ac, and private counselor bedrooms. The two small cabins are newly remodeled with heat/ac. Guest staying in these cabins will use the bathhouse located at the pool. Also available for overnight use is The Lodge, nestled close to the river. This building offers 4 private bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a small kitchen, a spacious covered porch, as well as heat/ac, a fireplace, television, VCR, and phone service. This building can sleep up to 14 guests.

When requested, guests will enjoy their meals in the newly renovated dining hall where our food service staff will serve buffet style. The room can hold up to 150 people at a time and can also be broken down into 3 separate classrooms. There is a nice fireplace at the far side of the building and the wrap-around porch offers a nice touch, too. Feel free to plan to have your group meetings in the dining hall. The tables and chairs can be set up and taken down to suit the group's different needs. Our food service staff is also available to cater formal banquets.

Your group may just want to come for a day use program. Our outdoor pavilion, swimming pool, challenge course, dining hall, water front, and recreational fields are all available for day use. We pride ourselves on our ability to be flexible when working with guests. If you have an idea not covered in this material, please contact us with your questions.

For pricing information, please download the 2008 Reservation Form and Pricing List. Should your group want to come for day use only or camp in tents, download the Picnic/Day Use/Tent Camping Rates document. We look forward to seeing you on the Piankatank!
